Primedia reassigns managers

Published on .

New York--Primedia Inc., which Thursday eliminated its Media Central business unit and shifted several properties into Primedia Business Magazines & Media, is restructuring responsibilities at several magazines involved in the realignment.

The company also eliminated about 24 jobs in the restructuring, according to a spokesperson. In the most high-profile move, John McManus, who was editorial director for Media Central, is now editor of both American Demographics and Folio:. Barbara Paul, publisher of American Demographics, was named national sales manager at sister publication Promo.

Folio: editor in chief Cable Neuhaus, who was brought in less than a year ago to revitalize the publication, has left.

Cable World will be folded into the financial group's stable of b-to-b titles.

Also, the newsletter "Media Markets Daily," which covered the media buying and planning business, published its last issue on Thursday, and its editor Joe Mandese has left the company.
