New York--Primedia Inc. reported a 7% increase in second-quarter sales from continuing businesses to $425.5 million, from $397.7 million a year earlier. The company also reported that its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) declined 14% to $72.2 million in the second quarter from $84 million in the year-earlier quarter due to higher Internet losses. The company's Internet revenues increased 74.6% in the quarter to $10.3 million, compared with $5.9 million a year earlier. Sales from traditional media, including trade publications, in Primedia's b-to-b unit increased 5.2% to $143.2 million. Primedia also announced several new Internet alliances, including deals with IronMax.com, Paperloop, Bluedot.com, BuyAg.com and Hookup.
