Primedia's loss nearly doubles

New York--Primedia, the parent company of business-to-business media company Intertec Publishing, Overland Park, Kan., Wednesday reported a third-quarter loss of $17.1 million, nearly double its $9.2 million loss a year earlier. Thanks largely to the company's acquisition strategy, Primedia's revenue rose to $423 million for the quarter, up 9.6% from $392.3 million in last year's third quarter. Intertec atttributed this year's third-quarter loss to weakness in advertising pages from the heavy equipment, mining and farming industries. Also on Wednesday, Tom Rogers took over as Primedia's chairman-CEO.
