Print advertising revenue fell to $1.8 billion in the first quarter, a 6.4% drop compared with the same period last year. Digital revenue increased to $1.1 billion, a jump of 7.5%.
The rate of decline for trade show revenue improved. In the first quarter of last year, trade show revenue dropped 19.7%. The rate of decline for print ad pages is also improving. In the first quarter of last year, ad pages plunged 26.1%.
The rate of decline for print ad pages also slowed month to month in this year’s first quarter. In January, pages declined by 12.4%; in February, 7.5%; and in March, 3.1%.
