New York—Advertising revenue for business publications grew 1% in May compared with the same month in 2005, according to figures released late Monday by American Business Media's Business Information Network. Ad pages fell 1%.
The strongest ad categories through May were aviation, aerospace and military (up 9.36%) and banking, financial and insurance (up 8.52%). Some of the weaker ad categories included agriculture (down 6.79%), transportation and logistics (down 6.36%) and science, research and development (down 4.55%). Year-to-date ad pages were up 0.5% compared with the same period last year.
ABM also reported that trade show revenue for business publishers grew 1.4% to $2.74 billion in the first quarter compared with the same period in 2005.
“This is only moderate growth,” said Gordon Hughes, president-CEO of ABM, in a news release, “but it’s growth. We suspect the strong showing of last year will be in evidence as the year progresses.”
