New York--Print magazine, a bimonthly publication for graphic designers, won the award for General Excellence (under 200,000 circulation) from the Magazine Publishers of America. Print competed with nominees that included The American Scholar and MBA Jungle. The magazine industry itself also won something: a proclamation declaring this week as Magazine Editors Week. The proclamation was delivered at the National Magazine Awards luncheon Wednesday by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who admitted he was disappointed no Bloomberg publications had been nominated for awards. Most of the 19 awards went to consumer publications.
