Paris—Publicis Groupe and Google announced Wednesday that Publicis Groupe has agreed to acquire the Performics search marketing business from Google. Publicis said the acquisition was intended to strengthen the VivaKi Nerve Center, a new strategic entity launched by Publicis in June. VivaKi is designed to leverage Digitas, Starcom-MediaVest, Denuo and ZenithOptimedia for Publicis’ clients. Launched in 1998, Performics now employs about 200 search marketing specialists.
