Qualcomm hires VP sales for e-mail ad sales

Published on .

San Diego--William Gannon this week was named vice president of sales for Qualcomm Eudora Products, a sponsor-supported e-mail network scheduled to launch this quarter. Mr. Gannon, formerly director of national sales development for Newsweek magazine, will lead the sale of advertising that will accompany the release of the Eudora 4.3 e-mail software. Qualcomm, San Diego, is releasing the latest version of its e-mail software for free, so long as people agree to receive advertising or regularly updated sponsorship content as part of the program's interface. Earlier versions of the software, in use by an estimated 20 million people, cost up to $49.
