R.R. Donnelley spins off online service group

Published on .

R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co., Chicago, announced Tuesday it has spun off and renamed its online service group as Red Rover Digital. A wholly owned subsidiary of Donnelley, Red Rover Digital provides Web consulting, strategy, technology and design to publishers and merchants. The move signals an ongoing effort to reposition Donnelly, known as a printer, as a communications company as its customers are increasingly moving their catalog and other content to the Web. "We will aggressively expand our Internet business through Red Rover--advancing our strategy to extend logically into complementary businesses and repositioning R.R. Donnelley as a provider of integrated communications solutions," Chairman-CEO William L. Davis said in a statement.
