London—The Economist Group said CEO Helen Alexander will step down from her post at the group’s annual general meeting July 15. She will be succeeded by Andrew Rashbass, who has been publisher-managing director of The Economist since 2005.

Alexander joined The Economist as marketing manager in 1985, and later ran international circulation before becoming managing director of the Economist Intelligence Unit. She was named CEO in 1997

Rashbass was previously managing director of Economist.com. He joined the company as CIO, from the Associated Press, in 1997. A successor to Rashbass has not been named.
