Record number of marketing sector M&A deals in 2007

New York—Marketing sector mergers and acquisitions totaled a record 758 deals in 2007, with a combined value of $60.3 billion, according to marketing services investment banker Petsky Prunier, which released its “2007 Year-End Marketing Sector M&A Review” on Tuesday.

The number of deals increased 63% compared with 2006, and the deal value increased 85%.

Deal activity was hottest in the digital services and direct and database segments, which tallied 225 and 161 deals, respectively. Digital services represented $16.2 billion in total deal value, while direct and database deals totaled $18.6 billion.
