Reed Business Information closes print edition of Electronic News

New York--Reed Business Information this week shut down the print edition of Electronic News. The last issue wil be Dec. 2. The weekly, with a circulation of 46,000, launched in 1957 and coined the phrase "Silicon Valley," according to Christopher Platt, associate publisher. He would not comment on any staff cuts as a result of the shutdown. Reed will continue running the Electronic News Web site, which provides daily news updates and an e-mail newsletter with 65,000 subscribers. In another move, Reed said that starting in April 2003, Electronic Business will double its frequency to twice monthly and increase its circulation by 15,000.
