Reed Elsevier sees stabilization in trade show, advertising spending

Published on .

London—In its interim report, Reed Elsevier said that its Reed Exhibitions unit experienced a decline in square footage for most events in 2010 when compared with last year’s levels. However, the company added that the exhibition industry is stabilizing, with growth returning for shows staged in the second half of the year. “Forward space bookings for events in 2011 are encouraging,” according to the company.

Reed Elsevier, which last year and earlier this year has seen its Reed Business Information unit divest itself of a number of trade magazines, said that the unit is experiencing growth in its data services. Advertising is also stabilizing at RBI, the company said.
