Reed Elsevier taps new CEO for global b-to-b division

London--Reed Elsevier plc on Wednesday announced that it has appointed Gerard van de Aast to the new position of CEO of its global b-to-b division. Van de Aast will join the company Dec. 1 and will be based at Reed's home office in London. He'll report directly to Reed CEO Crispin Davis. Prior to joining Reed, van de Aast was most recently a member of Compaq Computer Corp.'s senior management team in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The portfolio of market leading brands within the global b-to-b segment include Variety, Publishers Weekly, Design News, Restaurants and Institutions and Construction News in the U.S.; New Scientist, Computer Weekly, Flight International and Estates Gazette in the UK; and trade shows such as Hotelympia, World Travel Market, MIPcom and the PGA Merchandise Show.
