Hicksville, N.Y.—Facebook is the top global brand for the third consecutive quarter, followed by Google and Amazon.com, according to General Sentiment's "Q1 2013 Global Brands” report. Facebook generated $730 million of “impact media value,” followed by Google ($545 million), Amazon.com ($519 million), Volkswagen ($361 million) and Apple ($350 million), the report said. General Sentiment's quarterly reports determine impact media value for each brand, an equivalent in purchase value of the brand's news and social exposure as determined by sentiment, frequency, news mentions and social dialogue. “Our 'Global Brands' report looked very different a year ago,” said Pete Moran, CEO of General Sentiment, in a statement. “Then, Apple was the top brand, and Facebook wasn't even on the list. Today, Apple is at fifth.”
