Report: Seven newspaper groups to form alliance with Yahoo!

Published on .

New York—A consortium of seven newspaper chains will announce a partnership with search engine Yahoo! for online help wanted ads, The New York Times reported Monday.

The newspaper groups, which represent 176 daily newspapers, are: Belo, Cox Enterprises, E.W. Scripps, Hearst, Journal Register Co., Lee Enterprises and MediaNews Group.

Under the deal, newspapers will be able to post their help wanted ads on Yahoo!'s HotJobs; they also will be able to use HotJobs to power their own online employment ads, according to the Times.

One long-term goal of the partnership is to be able to have the content of these newspapers tagged and optimized for searching and indexing by Yahoo!, the Times said.
