Before he bought Wall Street Journal parent Dow Jones & Co. in December 2007, Murdoch told Time that a free, advertiser-supported, online-only Journal "would be successful." This year, he made an about-face, telling attendees at the World Media Summit in October: "If we do not take advantage of the current movement toward paid-for content, it will be the content creators ... who will pay the ultimate price."
