Sabre, Expedia announce travel alliances

Southlake, Texas, and Bellevue, Wash.--The travel industry is heating up as two major players, Sabre Holdings Corp., which provides travel industry technology, and Expedia Inc., an online travel company, both announced alliances. Sabre announced it will team up with Yahoo Inc. and Travelocity, its subsidiary, to jointly market travel programs for travel agents, travel suppliers and consumers. Meanwhile, Expedia said it will team up with sister company Ticketmaster, both divisions of USA Interactive, to offer travelers access to event tickets as part of its packaged travel programs.
