Safka named CEO of Ask.com

New York—IAC Search and Media announced that Jim Safka has been named CEO of its search engine Ask.com.

Safka will continue in his role as CEO of Primal Ventures, a new entity created to develop business opportunities for IAC. He succeeds Jim Lanzone, who left Ask.com to become an entrepreneur-in-residence at Redpoint Ventures, a venture capital company.

Scott Garell has been named president of Ask.com; he had been CEO of IAC Consumer Applications & Portals. John Park succeeds Garell, from was exec VP-general manager of toolbars and portals at IAC Consumer Applications & Portals.

Peter Horan, CEO of IAC Media and Advertising, has taken on responsibility for Ask Sponsored Listings and IAC Mobile.
