Salesforce to acquire Buddy Media

San Francisco—Salesforce.com, rapidly expanding beyond its customer relationship management roots, has agreed to acquire social media campaign management company Buddy Media. ZDNet pegged the purchase price at $800 million. New York-based Buddy Media is the largest Facebook page management company, maintaining pages, app, ads and offers, and also works on Google+, LinkedIn and Twitter. Its customers include ESPN, Ford Motor Co. and Hewlett-Packard Co.
