San Francisco—CRM company Salesforce.com announced Wednesday that it has acquired InStranet, a Chicago-based knowledge management technology provider for call centers, in a deal valued at $31.5 million.

With the deal, Salesforce.com adds InStranet’s technology, about 350,000 call center agents and new clients including Comcast, Expedia, Orange and Volkswagen Credit.

“Not only will it make our service and support offering stronger for our customers and further their success, but it will help catapult our growth in the customer service and support space,” said Marc Benioff, chairman-CEO of Salesforce.com, in a statement.
