San Francisco—Salesforce.com Inc. is extending the capabilities of its internal social collaboration tool Chatter. The update is designed to enable partners, resellers and retailers outside of a company to brainstorm on products and campaigns with internal marketing teams.
The new Salesforce Communities has been beta tested by General Electric Co. Salesforce plans to roll out the service in further tests, and make it widely available in the second half of 2013, the company said in a statement.
Last week, competitor Jive Software announced
a similar capability, Jive for Marketing Teams, which also enables real-time collaboration between internal marketing teams and external agencies and contractors.
