Salesforce launches Identity for app access management

Published on .

San Francisco—Salesforce.com Inc. has officially launched its Identity service, which allows companies to consolidate user authentication and application access. Salesforce Identity is intended to manage user access to the myriad applications, both cloud and on-premise, that companies have adopted. The tool is expected to go beyond managing access to the many Salesforce products, such as the company's Sales Cloud, Data.com, Work.com and Service Cloud applications, and allow companies to manage access to “any app on any device” for employees via open APIs, the company said in a statement. Identity allows for user profile management, usage reports, dashboards and authentication, as well as single sign-on for users, Salesforce said.
