SAP America to acquire Ariba in $4.3 billion deal

Published on .

Walldorf, Germany—SAP America, a subsidiary of SAP AG, has agreed to acquire Ariba Inc., a cloud-based business commerce network, in a deal valued at $4.3 billion. SAP said the deal, which is expected to close in the third quarter, is designed “to create new models for b-to-b collaboration in the cloud.” SAP said its global customer base includes more than 190,000 companies, which may increase the number of participants using the Ariba network and the volume of transactions conducted through it. “The cloud has profoundly changed the way people interact. The impact will be even greater as enterprises connect and collaborate in new ways with their global networks of customers and partners,” said SAP Co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe in a statement.
