Walldorf, Germany--SAP AG disclosed plans Monday to link customer relationship management technology with the coming wave of mobile devices. SAP said it will work with Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash., to link Windows CE and other devices to its software through the BizTalk Framework (, an Extensible Markup Language (XML) framework for application integration and electronic commerce. The move is significant because SAP, which counts many of the Fortune 500 among its clients, has taken steps to link field sales information with leads and orders received over the Internet. With the move to display that information over handheld devices, SAP looks to stave off competitors also using the Internet to deliver products managing sales force activity, interactive marketing campaigns and Internet sales reporting in a single application. For example, Vignette Corp., Austin, Texas, announced Monday a deal with PricewaterhouseCoopers, New York, to offer Vignette's Relationship Commerce platform to corporations.
