SAPMarkets introduces transport services

Published on .

Palo Alto, Calif.--SAP AG's Internet-based exchange company, SAPMarkets Inc. said Wednesday that it has added transportation purchasing and management services through NTE Inc., Downers Grove, Ill. The move is significant because SAPMarkets will allow companies to automatically buy transportation as part of an overall purchase. Today, companies making purchases on Internet exchanges usually rely upon their shipping department to complete the shipping process. Automation of all aspects of a transaction, including transportation, is necessary to achieve significant cost savings from Internet buying, but payment schemes and transportation services are just beginning to come on line. SAPMarkets' MarketSet, which accommodates the shipping component, is a joint product from SAPMarkets and Commerce One Inc. http://www.sap.com http://www.commerceone.com
