SARS threat prompts Chinese ad delegation to skip Cannes

London--The China Advertising Association on Monday said it would withdraw its delegation of 90 people from attending the upcoming 2003 International Cannes Advertising Festival, which will be held June 15-21 in Cannes, France. The annual festival attracts about 8,000 global participants. "In order to effectively prevent SARS from spreading to other countries, the Chinese government has stipulated that all official activities to go abroad are paused," Shi Xuezhi, the secretary general of the China Advertising Association, said in a statement.
