SAS names Howard, Merrell agency of record

Raleigh, N.C.--Cary, N.C.-based SAS Institute has named Howard, Merrell & Partners its ad agency of record. The initial emphasis of Howard, Merrell's work will be on brand development. Creative is expected to break early in 2000. SAS Institute, a $1 billion company specializing in data warehousing software for businesses, spent $6.2 million in media last year and had spent $3.4 million through May of this year--most of it in magazines--according to Competitive Media Reporting, New York.
