For a show that has its roots in the creative and graphics community, Seybold Seminars has been catering to the "geek" scene fairly heavily over the past few years.

To better serve these two audiences, Seybold next year plans to add two seminars, adding new shows in Chicago and New York to join existing events in San Francisco and Amsterdam.

The split personality reflects ongoing changes in the print and online business publishing market, where creative professionals such as graphics designers increasingly work alongside more technology-minded types such as Web administrators or directors of content management.

In 2005, MediaLive International, Seybold's parent company, will focus its New York and San Francisco shows on creative professionals and its Chicago and Amsterdam conferences on what it calls the "digital automation of publishing work flows." And it said it planned to add two additional content management-themed shows that will be announced later this year.

The shows in New York (Feb. 23-25) and San Francisco (Aug. 29-31) will address the needs of creative professionals involved in designing and creating content for print and the Web. The new work flow-themed shows in Chicago (Sept. 12-14) and Amsterdam (June 20-23) will focus on the technologies and best practices for managing and publishing their digital assets.
