Producer comment: "The conference program has increased in size, scope and reputation," said Tom Loughran, event director of International Vision Expo East. "And we created the medical and science pavilion. They have complemented each other."
Exhibitor comment: "It's a great forum to launch brands," said Andrea Gluck, president of longtime exhibitor Eyewear Designs. "They put a lot of effort into driving traffic to the show."
Breakdown: Consolidation in the industry has seen the number of exhibitors drop slightly, but the show continues to grow in both attendance and square footage. About 80 new exhibitors participated in the show this year, showcasing their offerings at an event that has broadened its fashion focus to include a medical and science pavilion and a strengthened conference program geared toward optometrists. Loughran attributes growth to ongoing initiatives such as these. Organizers this year announced plans to restructure the show floor and take other measures to improve navigation of the 2009 event.
