Producer comment: "We're continuing to get a lot of U.S. interest in Hong Kong," said Alan Peterson, VP-expositions and conferences at New Hope/Penton, noting that the square footage growth largely reflected the addition of exhibitor United Natural Foods. "Organic is very big in Hong Kong because of food issues in China."
Exhibitor comment: "I've got tons of business in Asia," said Jonathan Prince, specialty and international sales manager, Nature's Gate, Nature's Gate Organics and Advanced Skin Care. "There are only a few major chains in Asia, and they all go to the show."
Breakdown: New Hope/Penton identified an area of growth for natural products and facilitated exhibitors' interaction with the market by organizing on-site translators and translating sales materials into both Mandarin and Cantonese. A Hong Kong-based staff helps the company develop connections with retailers and agents and will build relationships with local associations to grow the show as it moves forward as an annual Hong Kong show. Organizers also added two established conference brands to the show this year.
