Producer comment: “We build partnerships to increase the value proposition for attendees and exhibitors,” said Sara Truesdale Mooney, show director. “That increases ROI for everybody.” Exhibitor comment: “We saw a lot of our present customers,” said Chuck Deahl, national account manager at equipment manufacturer BOMAG Americas. “The biggest thing is the customer you already have. We still have to show that customer that we want his business from year to year.” Breakdown: World of Asphalt drew a record number of exhibitors and packed its aisles despite a tough economy, a feat organizers attributed to strategic partnerships. This year's event was co-located with the inaugural AGG1 Aggregates Forum and Expo, as well as the National Management and Work Zone Safety Conference. Expanded educational opportunities and new pavilions added value. Almost one-third of the show's exhibitors were participating in the show for the first time. Overall the combined events drew almost 400 exhibitors and took up 85,900 net sq. ft. —C.W.
