Producer comment: "We saw a void in the industry on the West Coast and felt we could fill that, but we wanted to fill that with something unique and different than many other photo shows," said Tom Pellet, group VP-Cygnus Expositions. "We built the show through the eyes of the people who are in this industry," he said.
Exhibitor comment: "Even though it was a startup, it was a major show for us," said Brian Cooney, senior product manager at Calumet Photographics, Chicago, a photographic retailer for the commercial photography market. "We had a larger crew and a bigger booth than normal," he said. "This wasn't as big as some of the other shows, but for a first-year show it was very good." Cooney will exhibit at the show in 2005. Breakdown: PhotoImaging & Design Expo will return to San Diego for its second annual show in April 2005. Pellet said he expects exhibit floor space to increase to 65,000 square feet. This year, in addition to seminars and the exhibit hall, the show held half a dozen live staged shoots. Many workshops and seminars sold out in advance of the show. Cygnus said it plans to expand the workshops in 2005 and develop additional preconference programs.
