Washington, D.C.—The Software & Information Industry Association announced that veteran media executive Mike Marchesano has been named managing director of the American Business Media Division of SIIA. The ABM merged with SIIA on June 30.
Marchesano most recently was president-CEO of Aequor Media, a consultancy that provides customized technology solutions for b-to-b and consumer magazines, newspapers and Fortune 1,000 companies. Prior to that, he was managing director of media investment bank Jordan Edmiston Group, where he led the sale of Congressional Quarterly to the Economist Group.
Before that, Marchesano was exec VP-chief transformation officer at Nielsen Co.; president-CEO of VNU Business Media; president-CEO of Bill Communications (an operating company of VNU); and president of BPA International (now BPA Worldwide).
Marchesano was an ABM board member from 2001 to 2007, serving as chairman in 2006-07, and an SIIA Content Division board member from 2007 to 2011.
“With changing business models, new delivery platforms and new competition, the business media industry will benefit enormously from someone with Mike's perspective and experience,” SIIA President Ken Wasch said in a statement. “With Mike at the helm, the ABM Division will develop new programs and services that help to advance the business media industry.”
