Skype partners with Avaya

By Published on .

Basking Ridge, N.J.—Skype and Avaya Inc. announced a strategic agreement to deliver collaboration enterprise solutions.

In October, Avaya customers will gain access to Skype Connect, which melds the company’s VOIP services with traditional business communications systems. In the second half of 2011, Avaya and Skype customers will enjoy full platform compatibility, allowing users to communicate across the services.

The move will give Skype caché with enterprise clients concerned about security and management, while allowing Avaya to open its channels to Skype’s millions of users and differentiate it from rivals such as Cisco Systems.
