Waltham, Mass.—Small businesses are increasingly seeing the value of social media platforms, with a particular increase in the use of LinkedIn and Twitter as effective marketing channels, according to a new study by marketing company Constant Contact.
According to the “Constant Contact Small Business Pulse” report, 80% of small businesses now conduct social media marketing, with 82% citing Facebook as effective for them, up from 75% in a similar study last May. However, 29% said LinkedIn was also effective for their businesses, up from just 10% in the previous study, and 25% cited Twitter, compared with only 7% last year.
Small business appreciation of YouTube is also on the rise, with 15% of respondents reporting it as performing effectively for them, up from 3% in the previous study. The study was based on an online poll of 1,100 members of Constant Contact's Small Biz Council conducted in December.
