Small Idapta scores big with win

Published on .

Atlanta--It looks like not every big coalition marketplace contract will go to Ariba Inc., Commerce One Inc. or Oracle Corp. Upstart Idapta Inc. Thursday won a deal with ocean freight marketplace LevelSeas.com, which will use Idapta's e-marketplace platform to launch its company. While many first-generation e-marketplace vendors-such as Tradex, Trading Dynamics and CommerceBid-were snapped up by larger players, Idapta has stayed independent andhas a sophisticated e-marketplace platform. A big win could launch the Atlanta-based vendor onto more marketplace short lists. London-based LevelSeas is backed by BP Amoco plc, Cargill Inc., Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Cos. and eVolution Global Partners.
