Smith promoted at Atlantic Media; Clark leaves to run Potomac Research Group

Published on .

New York—Atlantic Media Co. announced Wednesday that Justin B. Smith has been promoted to president of the company.

Smith, who was previously president of Atlantic Consumer Media, will add oversight of the National Journal to his oversight of The Atlantic and Government Executive. He joined Atlantic Media in 2007 from The Week, where he was president.

In taking over the National Journal, Smith succeeds Suzanne Clark, who is leaving Atlantic Media. Clark is acquiring the Potomac Research Group, a research firm that provides Washington policy analysis to institutional investors, from Atlantic Media Chairman David Bradley. She co-founded the firm with Bradley in 2008.

“Only the chance to grow my own company could influence me to leave my exceptional colleagues at Atlantic Media. I am exceedingly grateful to David for providing this unique entrepreneurial opportunity,” Clark said in a statement.
