Chicago—Crain’s Chicago Business announced Tuesday David Snyder has been named publisher of the brand. He succeeds David Blake, who will retire at year-end.

Snyder is currently associate publisher of Crain’s Chicago Business. He will officially take over the publisher role on Oct. 15.

“David Blake has been an outstanding publisher and we intend to have a long relationship with him, both as he develops new projects for Crain’s and as he starts his own business,” Rance Crain, president of Crain Communications Inc., said in a statement. “Dave Snyder has been involved in every facet of our business over the years. He is more than ready to assume the mantle.”

“Crain’s has a legacy of valuing publishers who support independent and thoughtful journalism,” Snyder said in a statement. “Making Crain’s even more indispensable to our readers and advertisers—in print, online and through events—will be central to everything I do.”

Crain Communications Inc. also publishes BtoB.
