Southern tees up PGA campaign

Atlanta--Energy company Southern Co. announced a new national TV advertising campaign, which will debut on Saturday during the PGA Tour Players Championship golf tournament, which is televised by NBC. The four 15-second spots in the campaign feature Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson, Davis Love III and other PGA Tour players. The ads will also appear later in the year during golf coverage on ABC, CBS and ESPN. ``Our research shows that no other sport so effectively reaches our target audience of CEOs, policymakers, financial analysts, wholesale and other large energy buyers other than golf,'' said Dave Altman, Southern VP-corporate communications. The campaign was created by Shepardson Stern + Kaminsky, New York, for billings of $5 million.
