New York—The SportsOneSource Group, an online information source for the sporting goods industry, this week acquired the assets of VNU Business Media’s Sporting Goods Business and related properties.

Financial terms of the deal, which goes into effect Sept. 1, were not disclosed. VNU owns one-third of SportsOneSource.

SportsOneSource will acquire the rights and trademarks of all properties under the SGB umbrella, including Gold Retailer, Hunting Business, Inside Sporting Goods, Outdoor Business, Sports Trend and Sporting Goods Dealer. SportsOneSource has also acquired the rights to the Elite Running Conference, OB Outlook and SGB Forum events.

James Hartford, president-CEO of SportsOneSource, told BtoB that he expects to retain most of the staff of SGB, a monthly with a circulation of 23,000.

The sale of SGB adds to a flurry of executive and strategic moves made by VNU since it was acquired in May by a consortium of private equity firms for about $11 billion.
