Kansas City, Mo. --Sprint Corp. said late Thursday it has formed a seven-year marketing and sales alliance with Dell Computer Corp., Round Rock, Texas, to provide communications and computer packages for small companies. Under terms of the agreement, Sprint, Kansas City, will use Dell's branded PowerEdge servers and PowerVault storage in its hosting business, while Dell will purchase telecom services from Sprint. The two companies will offer businesses integrated Internet protocol, frame relay, broadband and wireless packages for businesses seeking ways to buy into those new technologies cheaply, and with a minimal amount of customized consulting or information technology expertise. The deal is significant because it joins a giant in telecommunications--Sprint has about $23 billion in annual revenues--with the No. 1 computer hardware manufacturer.
