Published on .

Overland Park, Kan.—Wireless communications company Sprint Nextel Corp. is expected to be the next cellphone carrier to offer Apple Inc.'s iPhone, according to a report today in The Wall Street Journal. According to the report, by October Sprint will be added to the list of current carriers AT&T and Verizon that offer the iPhone 4 and will also help in the launch of the iPhone 5 that month. The Journal estimated that will mean an extra 6 million Apple phones sold in Apple's next fiscal year, beginning Oct. 1, for an increase in sales of about 5%. Sprint serves about 52 million subscribers, compared with industry leader Verizon's 106 million and AT&T's 99 million.
