Deerfield, Ill.—Stagnito Media announced Monday that it has acquired Convenience Store News, Progressive Grocer and other titles from the retail food group of Nielsen Business Media. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Also included in the deal are Trade Dimensions’ Directory of Convenience Stores and Grocery, Durg and Mass Merchant Marketing Guidebook. These directories include both print and electronic products. “We’re excited about re-entering the food industry with the acquisition of such highly recognized and respected food media brands and related products. Our goal is to introduce a new business model to the food market to take advantage of the trend towards targeted and measurable integrated media,” Harry Stagnito, president-CEO of Stagnito, said in a statement.

Stagnito also covers the architectural and construction market with titles it acquired from ZweigWhite Information Services in 2009. The principals of Stagnito formerly ran Stagnito Communications, a food and beverage unit of Ascend Media that was sold to BNP in 2007. Nielsen Co., which owns Nielsen Business Media, is in the process of selling its trade publications. Previous deals have included the sale of The Hollywood Reporter and Editor & Publisher.
