San Francisco--Standard Media International, publisher of The Industry Standard, and Epoch Partners announced the launch of Standard 100, a new stock index that tracks the Internet economy. Taking its cue from the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the index serves as a benchmark for gauging the strength of the Web marketplace. The Standard 100 includes diverse companies with a total market value of $2.5 trillion from four primary sectors: b-to-b e-commerce companies, consumer-oriented e-commerce companies, Net infrastructure equipment companies and Net infrastructure connectivity companies. The new index can be tracked on the American Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol XIS.
