Staples clicks with nine marketplaces

Staples.com said Monday it has signed agreements with nine developers of b-to-b trading software, giving the office supplier a major footprint in the growing business buying phenomenon. Staples, Framingham, Mass., said Ariba Inc., Commerce One Inc., Intelisys Electronic Commerce and Oracle Corp. are among the vendors planning to build automated sales between its customers and Staple's Internet store. Staples.com used code provided by webMethods Inc. to build an extensible markup language, or XML, interface that can be easily installed on the corporate networks of large companies, it said.
