Staples relaunches Web site, targets small businesses

Framingham, Mass.—Staples announced Monday the relaunch of the Staples.com e-commerce site.

The site was revamped in a two-year process in which Staples Business Delivery, the $4.5 billion unit that includes Staples.com and the company's catalog business, conducted lengthy customer research and reworked the layout, look and functionality of the site.

"It's not just about energetic colors or the look and feel of the buttons," said Brian Light, exec VP of Staples Business Delivery.

As part of the redesign, Staples is concentrating more on the small-business market. "We took a step back and said, 'Why are we chasing sales that aren't very profitable,' and refocused our target to the small business, our core customer," Light said.
