Staples to standardize catalogs on Elcom

Published on .

Framingham, Mass.-Staples Inc. said Wednesday that it has formed an alliance with Elcom International Inc. to be the preferred supplier of office products on the hosted buying service maintained by Elcom. The move is a boost for tiny Elcom, which has been building a b-to-b buying network that does not require companies to make a large initial investment in software. Staples, Framingham will provide access to its StaplesLink.com services, and extends the $11 billion retailer's strategy of reaching business customers regardless of the Internet platform used.
