StrongMail: Marketing budgets to rise next year

Redwood City, Calif.—Marketers plan to increase their budgets next year, with the greatest attention paid to email, social media and mobile, according to a report by cross-channel marketing company StrongMail. StrongMail's "2013 Marketing Trends Survey" found 45.2% of businesses plan to increase their marketing budgets in 2013, while 43.9% plan to maintain their current spending levels.¬†Email will get the biggest budget boost, with 55.5% planning to increase spending. The study also found 51.8% plan to increase their social media marketing budget and 42.8% expect an increase in their mobile initiatives. Among looming obstacles, 45.6% cited data integration as their primary email marketing challenge in 2013; 39.5% cite lack of resources and staff; and 36% worry about integration with other marketing channels. StrongMail's study is based on an online poll conducted in November, with 1,002 respondents.
