Study: Email list-building an SMB priority

Waltham, Mass.—Small- and midsize-business owners view email list-building as an ongoing priority, according to a new study by Constant Contact. According to the company's “Growing Contacts, Growing Business” study, 57% of SMB respondents to a survey said they are actively trying to grow their email contact lists “at all times.” Among those, 44% said bolstering repeat business is the key reason to grow email lists, 39% cited customer relationship building and 12% said they are seeking customer referrals. Sixty-four percent of respondents said they ask customers for their contact information directly. Among those using online tools, 92% collect email addresses via website forms, and 46% offer similar capabilities on their Facebook business pages. Constant Contact's study was based on an online survey in January of 717 of its clients.
